I'm glad it wasn't 3000 years of longing for you. Wow, this is a lovely page, and packed with great detail and tricks. I really dig how Coleen used that wonderfully detailed robe as a key bit of the composition, drawing your eye through the image. And stripping out the lines from the water color (?) to create strong depth was a very successful choice. Someone clearly granted you three wishes, and you used them on art.

I remember this cover, and even picking it up as a back issue at MLCS. :) This one has it all, with heroes duking it out, webs and moon darts, a cringing Normie, full backgrounds, and even a slice through Spidey's costume. Pure awesomeness. Swinging high!

Well, as I live and Breathe(d)!!  Yowza, J H - This is absolutely DIVINE!  Like you, I was -madly- passionate about this strip, and having a great example like this from the Boingers storyline could only be surpassed by somehow getting your hands on the master tapes of the recording session(s) which produced the tune on the flexi-disc insert of the 'Billy and the Boingers Bootleg' book... :)

But what a beautiful example here, from the prime of the strip, which sports a great gag, that unmistakable Breathed narrative voice (full of wit and wry social commentary), and beautiful shots of Bill.  Absolutely spectacular, J H!  Mega-congrats!

That record! It has been years. I still have my copy, too, and I'm going to play it today thanks to you, Jason. :) I still laugh at gags that I'll recall reading as a kid. Old, bald Binkley coming out of the night terror closet to have a frank discussion about how lame "we're" gonna be with women? Then comes out the first girlfriend to sit on his bed with a monster peeking out to see his reactions? I'm chuckling right now. And I very well remember reading this one, too. We recapture tiny bits of our youth with each of these personal treasures we find. Thanks for the great comment as always, Jason!

A great classic of its day that gave us a snapshot of the 80's.  The dry humor made you think of the truth behind the joke.  In this case, it's about glorifying the decadent lifestyle reported by tabloids and seen on movie screens.

It was most certainly a good list of what not to do. :) Thank you, Marcus

I have to admit, I didn't find the strip very funny, but in fairness, no humor strips ever really made me laugh. I thought many had cleverly written jokes, but they just didn't make me laugh. Cue the Simpsons: "It's funny, but it's just not hah hah funny.". However, I still really loved Bloom County if only for the the interesting looking cast of characters and the excellent cartooning. Like you, Bill the Cat was my favourite and he was the only one whose head I would doodle constantly. To this day, whenever I hear or see that there's a Bloom County original going up on the auction block, I always check it out in hopes that it might be an example featuring Bill the Cat. Congrats, man, this is a phenomenal example!

It is a lot of subtle US pop culture and political reference, so the humor could hit a bit flat for some audiences. It usually made me laugh, tho, like when Milo would work with his editor or Binkley dealt with his night terrors. It's so funny that you used to doodle Bill the cat, because I used to do that, too. Heh. Thanks, Rubén.

I've always liked Larocca's style. It in the Yu vein, where you have great detail and grit, but inks were strategically left out to get a clean super-readable look. Love the windup and punch in the middle panels. And it's a great battle page with Pepper, too. I wonder if we see her in the movies when the new Avengers form? Great point, Paul. One one hand, it's fun that he's a big all-powerful force of nature that is like a cosmic competitive eater. But my favorite stories are when Galan takes off the helmet and talks to Mr Fantastic, or we get a Sad Galactus storyline. One of my favorite pages is the Secret Wars page where he's looking sadly at his home, regretting what he has to do next. Simple but excellent posing choice here by, Del Mundo. Really nice one, Kahlil.
