John Byrne--Fantastic Four #283 (1985) Owner: Bill J Comment posted on 3/23/2024 Psycho Man! One of my favorite Kirby baddie designs. And this cover? Magnificent. Swamp Thing #4 Page #6 prelim (1973) Owner: J H Comment posted on 3/23/2024
Bill J said:
Absolutely stunning Swamp Thing prelim by Bernie Wrightson! I always love seeing these prelims and comparing them to the final published page. On this page, it's amazing how close the sketch is to the finished piece. The scenes are all pretty much the waty he inked them. That fifth panel is practically identical to the published panel. And that sixth panel--That's as good or better than the inked one! Thanks so much for sharing this with us. I'm so envious that you had a chance to talk with Bernie about it. That must have fantastic! ![]() As soon as we started talking, I could tell he was nice enough to ask him to pick through the art with me. He took me through a whole stack, picked out a few, and then we discussed the pros of each. (No way in hell would I mention a con in that situation!). A lovely and amazing guy. Thanks, Bill! |

Because I like to imagine her pulling it out of a tiny cherry, bellowing her battle cry, and leaping into the fight. I used to take them out of virgin daiquiris and stab my cousin or little sister. Where was I? Oh, yeah, super sweet page. :) |

Detective Comics 1066 page 19 by Ivan Reis Owner: F M Comment posted on 2/27/2024 That slow painful change in Werewolf in London was probably one of the big reasons it was such a cult hit. I like my wolfy transformations long and painful, too, just like mom used to make. Very cool sequences, and I really enjoy how he laid out this page. The best artists use that layout to greatly accentuate the story. Like here. :) And that Bat shadow is an excellent entrance. Great pages! |

Werewolf by Night #42 pg 17 by Don Perlin Owner: K Gearon Comment posted on 2/27/2024 Something about werewolf transformation pages that are so metal.
