Just a great design! Kirby using pattern and design work from different cultural myths and weaving it to look modern is some of Kirby's 70's best. ![]() This is actually by Simon and Kirby from 1955. In 1979 Joe reworked the artwork and design, including drawing a battle scene in the center of the image to further contrast the main figures. So technically this is from the 50's. |

Very captivating look as the colors give them a special gloss of realism that you'd normally find in the high end quality comics that ran in Playboy. I like the barstool name. I would also suggest "The Dating Game" with all three looking their most handsome. ![]() yes, Someone else had mentioned the Dating Game. Slightly before my time but I understand the reference. Theyre all putting their best foot foward, thats for sure. |

Classy classic? Classic classy? I read and loved Joe Simon's autobiographical books, so it is a lot of fun to see these three greats from the master's 'pushcart'. For a sketch, the brush work is strong on this one! That ghouly Red Skull is reminscent of the era when Cap became a horror title. ![]() Joe always viewed cap as a horror/detective title. Most of the stories are written as "Case files" and stuff like that. Thats some of the reasons why I love the cap comics. I really do love how much is in this quick piece. |

Milgrom draws a muscular Cap with a winning smile for a style springing from the Silver Age to his Captain America run inking in the 80's. ![]() That's very true. Joe didn't like to draw cap too muscular. Joe started his career drawing boxing figures and Athletic so he always gave his comic characters those traits which made them more realistic, slim yet still fit. But I do like Al's take on it. |

Indeed. My favourite of your grandfather's '70s work was the Outsiders in 1st Issue Special #10, another collaboration with Grandenetti and Flessel. That one had a real impact on me (at the age of 9) and it left me wanting to know more about that group. ![]() I truly believe Joe's 70's work is underrated. Great page! Grandinetti was given carte blanche to be as imaginative as he wanted - and his imagination was truly weird. His oddball cast of characters, and his startlingly dynamic framing, make Prez something of a forgotten gem. ![]() well alot of that was from the imagination of Joe Simon, He created Prez and Jerry and Craig worked under Joe. Prez is truly underappreciated. |

And some good human seed. If you feed them well, they might sing for you. Challengers of the Unknown was such a fun Kirby series. All the sci-fi and Kirby Monsters you could want. And it had a hint of his Golden age Simon/Kirby style, too. Love it! Big congrats! ![]() thats because the Original Concept/Idea and some pages from Showcase 6 were drawn and created by Joe and Jack during mainline. Joe let jack take it to DC as Jack was in need for a job. Joe never got any credit for any of it until recently where some people are learning of it. |

Boys Ranch, for me... may be the greatest series they ever did. Certainly one of the very best comic series ever produced. ![]() Joe and Jack poured their hearts into boys ranch but it sold like their other titles. Not exceptionally well but good none the less. I think it should've sold better with how much they put into it. Joe and Jack both had a soft spot for body ranch over all other things in their long careers |

Very nice! I used to own a page from this story, but sadly sold it years ago. ![]() Ive never sold orignal art, or artwork of any type. I have heard all the stories of people regretting the sale they made of that piece of art. I am still new to collecting so I havent experienced that kind of pain. I understand the pain of having and piece then no longer having it tho, when my grandfather's art was sold, I had no control over it and had no idea of it. I still remember that day vividly, seeing all the artwork. Gosh I was lucky! Anyways, I was thinking recently going through other comments of the Simon and Kirby pages, that this piece and some of the Joe solo pieces don't get the attention he desreve. Now not eveything Joe did was gold, but there's a good chick of it that is and dosent get the recognition. I was just wondering, if this was a Simon and Kirby piece, or a Kirby solo piece, would there be more attention paid to it? It's just astounding the lack of attention this piece and other Joe pieces are getting |

Joe Simon, Death of Captain America Owner: Harry M Comment posted on 1/3/2021 I have one that Joe did for me, more specifically my birthday. It wasn't drawn as well as this one and hienslty I wish it was drawn better. But I will say, I'm glad I have it. He wrote "Cappy Birthday" "with Love" "from your grandfathe" he forgot the r in grandfather so I think it was either late at night or he wasn't as sharp as before. But I still cherish it for the personal aspect. I do remember Joe wasn't happy about Cap "dying" |
