A lovely convention sketch by Neal which subsequently saw print in Bill G. Wilson's The Collector # 16 (fanzine) from July1969 and also in Bill Schelly’s memoir (this info via a couple of very knowledgable Gentlemen on the Official Neal Adams Appreciation page on FB). Congratulations.

Hi there Guy. This is one of several "patch" pieces of art where Neal did contemporary recreations of the art for panels published in the collected Batman Illustrated by Neal Adams vol#3 HC (from Dec 2005). Your image is used on page 226 which coincides with page 18 of the reprint of Neal and Dick Giordano's story for the Power Records release Batman: Stacked Cards (which came out in 1975). A little bit of history there.

Ta Marcus. Day 6 and I feel like Death. Managed to avoid it for 3 years tho. Trivia moment... I was the first ever artist on The Olympians in a locally produced NZ A4 photocopied "book" called Shards #1 (mid to late 80's) and still keep in touch with the Writer.

Great to see an Adams color guide especially from the classic X-men run. It's page 10 btw. This was also printed in the back of the recent X-Men Gallery Edition along with all of the other color guides from #62 courtesy of Jeff Jatras (R.I.P)

I just adore adore adore this page. The whole time Runs out story was brilliant with Lenil (and Jerome Opena) providing the visual highlights. I tried several times to buy pages from this book via a so called "reputable" dealer but they couldn't be bothered to return my multiple emails. Some day though....

Great page. Eerie #9 was cover dated May 1967 and Neal ghosted on Corrigan for the 14-19 August 1967 strips so not too far apart.

The Mystery deepens. Something I wasn't aware of until I read the back story on this was that Neal's version for the licensing material was a re-drawn, re-inked version of this Nasser pose. And then Sal Quartuccio posted the history of the Nasser piece on the Neal Adams Appreciation page. 

Adams' 1977/78 version of this image was used on Tote Bags, 7-up caps, Iron-on transfers and other licensing material too. It recently sold on HA in late 2018 and is distinguishable by the pasted on, resized head. The Nasser(?)/Rubinstein.version seems to have been a repenciled version of Neals original layout. There's a 2nd, identical one of those on another persons CAF profile. Both look like photocopies. I havn't seen your one before but it certainly looks intruiging. No idea who the inks are on this though.

Always appreciate your analysis Marcus. This one is imminent via Anthonys where I had no idea what I was initially ordering. A recent appreciation for Blackmark, and a friend sharing his scans, made me realise that I was getting a gem.

I regularly visited this page for a perv while it was at Nostalgic. Glad it found a good home.

OMFG. My brain melted when I saw this page as a kid and it's now turned to jello again as an adult seeing the original. Thanks for sharing.
