Great piece! Anderson's style, especially pencil-only, really lends itself to bringing out the Thing's texture, and that cigar enhances the picture as well. Terrific!

I have always loved this piece. Hunted down the trade paperback (no mean feat in pre-internet days) as much for this cover image as for the contents. I enjoy seeing the contrast between Miller's pencils and Sienkiewicz' painting. Congrats on a true stunner by two legends! :)

Terrific piece! And in addition to Joker's face being different, Letterman's "Now that's darn rude..." line is shown as being said by The Clown Prince Of Crime as well! I particularly like the Batman full-width panel, excellent battle scene. Congrats on owning a truly important piece of comics history!

I have similar memories of Marvel Age, and it sounds like I'm the same age as you. And there were so many great pieces of art that were produced solely for that magazine (i.e., Mazzucchelli's Daredevil cover for the upcoming Born Again story, Leonardi's Cloak & Dagger cover for that series, Byrne did a Marvel Universe picnic about to be ruined by Dr. Doom with a jar of ants...). Terrific pick-up of a very busy piece, congrats!

Love the things Leonardi would do artistically, like the charcoal for example. It's great for you, but sad in general that you were able to get this for $5. He is incredibly underrated. Great score though, terrific page!

While Rai may have been your least favorite Valiant character, as far as providing subject matter for FM to draw, he couldn't have been any better! From The Hand in FM's DD days, to Ronin, his Lone Wolf covers, and even thru to Miho in Sin City, the Eastern world has always been a subject near & dear to FM's heart and career. This may actually be the best of all the Valiant covers he did. Major congrats!

Obviously this is a gorgeous BWS Valiant cover. What makes seeing the original even better is that it was drawn on a Marvel Comics board. :)

Always liked the way Dave Hunt would spot blacks on Byrne's pages, and this page is a great example of that. Plus nice action with the main character too. Great page, and good for you for keeping it for however many years!

A favorite piece from a very favorite artist of mine. I've been a huge Leonardi fan for (sadly) decades now, and Colossus was always my favorite of the X-Men. To see him get a leading role, by an immensely talented artist, was a huge treat for me. So if anyone other than me is gonna own this piece, it may as well be someone as cool as you Eric. Absolutely love the story that went along with this. Stories like this, that attach personal meaning and memories to the pieces we own, are what make this hobby so interesting and great. Congrats!

Let's face it. Even within the confines of your "all killer, no filler" collection, this stands out as being a truly phenomenal piece. It's ones like this that make me periodically visit your gallery, turn to the heavens and scream "WHY?!?!?!?!?", and then sob softly to myself until my wife closes my MacBook for me and tells me it's time to go to bed. So basically, congrats on an incredible piece that evokes many childhood memories for me, as I bought this issue brand new off the stands when it came out, and it introduced me to the wonderful world that is beautiful Barry Windsor-Smith artwork.

The amount of detail Darrow puts into ANYTHING he does is phenomenal. To have a terrific example featuring perhaps his most iconic creation is fantastic. Kudos to you!

I'd also never looked at that page that way, but I can see it. Not sure I agree, but makes for an interesting argument, and a good interpretation nonetheless. BTW, do you have children, or any other heirs? You have to leave this stuff to SOMEONE, eventually...just sayin'... :)

I think it's far better that you got Spider-Man BECAUSE everyone else was getting DD! Not that the DD pieces aren't great, but it's nice to see something different, especially as terrific as this. And that's another cool thing about this drawing; there is no wrong direction to display this! Excellent!

As the fellow CAF member who owns the other cover, congrats to you! This piece, for different reasons, is just an excellent a cover as the one I got. Ted is kinda made for Dr. Strange, a perfect marriage of art style and character (form following function and all that). Beautiful, kudos!

Very nice...everything. Couldn't really ask for a better page from that book, really captures the essence of the Joker's "logic". And the story behind the acquistion makes it all the better. Ditto to Eric, as well as you Jim. Kevin's only working with about 2/3 space of the cover, and has to cram in story elements from 2 different titles. Beautiful piece though, loved his covers for this series, fantastic linework, congrats on having a great original!
