PERRY RHODAN #627 (1973) TERRA #321 (1964) Owner: Markus Rohrwild Comment posted on 1/7/2024

Real interesting how many changes were made. Does this mean it was painted over the original? ![]() Yes, you are correct. Johnny Bruck painted over the original piece to adapt it for secondary use. You can also see changes he introduced for different printed editions, for example the Perry Rhodan series has 5 printed editions and for the 3rd and 5th editions the covers were often changed a bit. For the 5th edition there are also many extensions which were necessary due to a format change. |

Really interesting he wanted to make a distinction of his "broken hand" period with this alt signature. He was relentless! ![]() There are also cool stories about his signatures 'Jo Shot' and 'Johnny Crash'... |

Cool art! Fun fact: This one's swiping from John Schoenherr's cover art for Analog's Feb 1964 issue. ![]() This is absolutely correct. Johnny Bruck was clearly influenced by John Schoenherr's great work. Also the cover of PERRY RHODAN Planet Novel #2 from 1964 is clearly 'inspired' by Schoenherr. |

Racoons make good astronauts in other universes too it seems. Though a giant giant gun would appear to come in handy. ![]() I believe that Rocket from 'Guardians of the Galaxy' seems like a clear rip-off of Gucky (US: Pucky) from 'Perry Rhodan' although Gucky rather used his mental powers vs. giant guns... |

I looked up the title on web translation and it says "The Genetic War". Interesting since the picture looks rather benign. ![]() Yes, you are right. Interestingly, this piece is full of symbols and stories. For example, the women on the left clearly resembles Johnny's wife Bonnie Bruck. And the the Scot is his friend Lord Euan Robert Mac Pherson of Clentrium, Head of the Mac Pherson Clan. There is a nice oil painting of him from Bruck as well. |

An inside illustration with signature JO/ SHOT, Bruck used this pseudonym because he shot himself in the foot. Simply brilliant that you have it in your collection. ![]() I think I have pieces with all his known pseudonyms in my collection including Bruck, Willis, JO, Crash, Shot, Plasterer and Pflasterer. As you rightfully point out, Crash, Plasterer and Pflasterer are related to various accidents. |
