Wow! Great painting. One of my Frazettas had a similar fate (Eerie 5-Swamp God). Frank painted out the two guys and was supposedly going to put a nice female on it---but unlike your painting he never got around to it! So it had this beautiful T-Rex and great background, but no drama as it once had. Well, the same guy (Rob) who helped you helped me. Only difference was Rob took the risk when he owned it and had it expertly restored back to it's original state. Looking at yours, I kinda wish Frazetta got around to putting a babe on mine as well....

GREAT cover! According to Ken, a similar sci-fi cover (Creepy 62) that he did was the cover that landed him the Kiss Destroyer artwork deal. I personally like your cover better. Robots and such is where Ken really shines...RIP....

WOW! That is fantastic!

It's BIG!!!! 18 x 22...and framed it's probably the biggest painting I have. Yet, the details are fine--which amazes me. As artists get older, many times they painting figures and such larger, because their eyesight and all is not quite what it once one. Sanjulian is 82 years old and this was done about 2 years ago. The detailing is incredible. It is large---but the entire scene is large. The figures and such are relatively small compared to the large size of the painting. And even under magnification, I can't believe how accurate and ornate the painting is

Neal was an incredible artist and person as well. I like the story Nick. It's amazing how much these creators changed our lives in so many ways. Neal was one of those guys who made noise about that, and helped many artists and writers in the process. He will be missed....

I actually read Vampirella a hell of a lot since I bought my first issue off the newsstands back in 1973. Being that I was 10, I had to hide it between the Creepy's and Eerie's that I also bought and read. It ruined me----it's basically the only artwork I aggresively collect! BTW--nice page!

Well...it looked like it worked out quite well from a value standpoint! It's scary to think how high this thing would go if it hit the auction block today. Me---if it was a grail for me, I wouldn't sell it...period (I think, at least!). But, I have been offered insane money for items i (still) own. And in today's market, said artwork is worth even more today. But your piece is in a different level with many BIG dollar buyers. Tough, tough decision! BTW--great page! I only collect monster magazine art---but I do remember this splash from the comic I bought off the stands

Amazing story---never heard that one. I agree that few artists can draw women as sexy as Jose. With a pen, Jose can be rivaled---but definitely not beaten. He just has a way with smooth flowing lines and shading, especially with his early ink wash pages

As I mentioned before in one of my posts, I had opportunity to buy 4-5 complete Marcos zombie stories at a very fair price. The werewolf story Marcos did from Monsters Unleashed 1 I did buy---and I feel it was nicer than any of the zombie stories. Still wish I bought at least one of them, though....Yet, if the zombie stories had pages like this, I would've bought every last page/story.....period! Alcala is the man with these pages. Marcos is great as well---but looking at this page, the difference is obvious. Congrats on this Steve!
