Fantastic Four #550 pg 9 by Paul Pelletier (ft Black Panther, Silver Surfer) Owner: K Gearon Comment posted on 8/10/2022 I love Pelletier's work too, and Magyar inks him like they've collaborated for decades! It was so fun seeing that all the FF's traditional relationships had to be reset when T'Challa and Ororo stepped in. Like you, I enjoy that T'Challa is outgunned here, and the Surfer has the high ground from the camera's perspective, but T'Challa won't ever back down! |

Killer Acuna examples, Doc! Love the choreopgraphy in both, as well as the panel layout - both add to make some dynamic pieces! Congrats! ![]() Thank you for sharing your thoughtful reaction to the choreography! Acuna captured Spidey's defensive movements AND Jessica's aggression so well! |

Dark Avengers #12, p. 21 Owner: Jason Hussa Comment posted on 8/9/2022 Norman Osborn was such a great villain all throughout Warren Ellis' Thunderbolts, then into Bendis' Avengers Saga! Congrats on grabbing this beauty; that middle image is so magical! I see it functioning as a panel border between it and the top image, a panel of its own, and also as a background for image 3! I understand your impulse to "root" for Norman amidst his struggles-- Deodato and Bendis made us feel that way by putting in the hard storytelling work! (PS don't worry, I won't tell Spidey) |

SCATCHAMAGOWZA! This is brilliant, Doc! I had assumed Daniel worked completely digital as well, and am thrilled to know his art is out there. Thank you for pointing the way! :) Both of these pages are sensational, but that page 15 is the best in the book, I think. Spider-Man's pose really reminds me of the old John Romita "swinging" Spidey cornerbox art: totally classic. I think my very favorite panel, though, may be page 15's bottom one: I love how Daniel drew the Mandrill, so to have such a terrific example of that is awesome. I also like how Daniel shaded or toned things in a bit with pencil, as if to 'prep' the work for his colors for publication. Another terrific add, Doc! Congrats again! ![]() Jason, I agree with your assessment of these pages and Daniel's beautiful artwork! Mandrill totally earned that knuckle sammich with his Hood-enhanced villainy-- such a satisfying moment! Thanks for sending the published scans so everyone can see Acuna's process, my friend! |

Jason Hussa said:
I'm sorry to say that I don't know anything about Baikie's work, but this is a compelling reason to go searching for some! He's obviously an incredibly skilled cartoonist with a style that can capture an urban grittiness and then next panel potentially slide into a caricature or something... Really like his art style, like a Kevin O'Neill meets Dave Gibbons meets... Jack Davis? Another super add, Doc - I really like this! Congrats! ![]() I like how you describe Jim's art, Jason! You can check out all the adventures of The First American and US Angel in ABC Books' excellent Tomorrow Stories! |
