For me, it isn't often that an uncolored piece has as much impact as the fully rendered and colored final product.  But man-oh-man!  This piece is gorgeous without the colors.  WOW!

That is SO funny.  Marcus, you pull out the best stuff.  I had forgotten that Andy Kaufman skit.  That dude was so "out there" with some of his bits.  I remember watching that when it came on.  Loving it, laughing, and so confused by it.

I haven't read any Batwoman (which is probably unthinkable for you since you seem to have an AMAZING collection of that character).  But seeing this art?  WOW, I have to check it out!  A story wtih Ragman, Demon, and Clayface is certainly worth checking into... and Ryp's work is beautiful.  For many reasons, this is a great page for your collection!  Thanks for posting and sharing it with us.

Thanks for the note and I agree Marcus.  To my eye, Raf brings a real innocence to the characters he draws.  I get so excited by the energy of his pages while keeping the lines simple and clean.  

I love Bautista's art.  Martian Manhunter is one of my favorite characters.  This is a double-plus good piece.  And it is fascinating to me to see the original art changed.  The original art only had the SUPERMAN logo but the published art shows both character's logo.  That small stuff always is cool to me.  Thanks for posting the art AND the color piece.  Nice!!!

I couldn't agree more with your comments.  Loved the story.  Loved the art.  Hated DC for revamping everything on a dime.  I get that they want to pull in new readers and make characters more accessible... but throwing out the history/continuity for no reason was my frustration.  I guess it set the tone for their Didio-visioned future where continuity can be reset rather than organically grown (e.g. Kyle, Conor, Wally) like they did at the start of the Silver Age (e.g. Flash, Atom, GL).

Great commission.  I think DC missed the boat when they didn't follow through with putting these two together.  I would have LOVED that and it would have opened up a whole new dimension and set of stories for years to come.  Maybe with Didio gone, they can bring in a fresh/better direction.

Thanks for the note, Steve.  I agree that Scott put some Bernie into this piece.  I don't know if you can see it from the scan, but if you look at the tomb stone to the right of Kyle/GL, you can see an ARROW in the crosshatching.  I haven't asked Scott if that was on purpose, but I gotta think it is.
