Awesome page - I wan't to read the rest to see how the a$$h@ll gets his just reward! ![]() The story is called "the Shoemaker's Strange Assistant" and yes, it doesn't end good for the loan shark. Ditko's sequential art story telling is so masterful that you get drawn right in by this one page. |

Great first panel! Caniff was just coming into his style here and perhaps even some Sickles assisting. ![]() This story line is really great too. Burma is my favorite character. I wonder if Sickles was still helping out here. I've read that he had at least throughout 1935, and this is from 36. I have one Sickles strip, but need more! |

Cool Ditko hero page, what a way to start off! What's beneath the patched panel? ![]() The art was photocopied in order to flipflop the image. They cut out the original so there is nothing under the photostat. Ditko was just so unique! |

The first twice-up page i bought was from this issue! One of the best Don Heck art, he didn't ink. ![]() This is the 2nd page I ever bought. Terrific set of Colan pages. His compositional & narrative style was so unique in the field. That oblique angle in panel one, and the near repetition of Bucky in 2 & 4 on page 8. Page 11 is just a knockout. ![]() I agree! I just love the perspectives in these pages. The panel of "Bucky" on the rising from the cot stuck in my mind when I read this issue as a kid. Loved all these story lines of Cap remorsing over the death of Bucky. And, Colan at his best. |

I own a page from this wonderful story & I know the whereabouts of two others, but I scarcely dreamed of seeing the splash! Thanks for posting and congratulations. I once had a Severin Two-Gun Kid page which was also done modern size. I imagine the EC guys took a look at the Atlas page rate and figured it was worth about half the drawing. ![]() I bought this and another page (which I later sold) about 10-12 years ago. It has been a favorite of mine ever since. Jack Davis was masterful. |

I love Davis's Rawhide Kid work and this story specifically - what a great splash! He worked smaller than usual, right? ![]() Yes, this is more like modern size, rather than the large art of the time. I love this story too. I remember being so surprised to read it as a kid, because I thought the art was Mad Magizine style :D |
