The story is called "the Shoemaker's Strange Assistant" and yes, it doesn't end good for the loan shark. Ditko's sequential art story telling is so masterful that you get drawn right in by this one page. 

I really agree. The flow and story telling in this page is excellent and Chic Stone shines with his inks here. The dialogue is also classic cheasy Stan Lee! 

This story line is really great too. Burma is my favorite character. I wonder if Sickles was still helping out here. I've read that he had at least throughout 1935, and this is from 36. I have one Sickles strip, but need more!

The art was photocopied in order to flipflop the image. They cut out the original so there is nothing under the photostat. Ditko was just so unique!

This is the 2nd page I ever bought. I had it framed right away and have been enjoying ever since. I always loved this issue for some reason. I agree with your assesment of Heck's artwork. Cheers.

I agree! I just love the perspectives in these pages. The panel of "Bucky" on the rising from the cot stuck in my mind when I read this issue as a kid. Loved all these story lines of Cap remorsing over the death of Bucky. And, Colan at his best.

Great page. What If: Jack Davis on Spider-Man - yes!!

I bought this and another page (which I later sold) about 10-12 years ago. It has been a favorite of mine ever since. Jack Davis was masterful. 

Yes, this is more like modern size, rather than the large art of the time. I love this story too. I remember being so surprised to read it as a kid, because I thought the art was Mad Magizine style :D 

I agree. There was some blue wash that had unfortunately faded, but the underwater effect in the third panel i still superb.

I agree.  Especially the car in the snow is very well done. I'm no artist, but it looks like Raymond used some kind of white out to partially creat the snow effect.

I love that fight sequence. I will get a better picture up soon :D
