Cerebus 233 page 2 Owner: Oystein Sorensen Comment posted on 3/9/2017 I loved the background on this page, but it also was a rare period in the latter part of the run in which you could see the chemistry between Cerebus and Jaka - something that was more relatable than the other storylines from that period. |

Herbe Trimpe Hulk #181 Commission Owner: Kelvin Mao Comment posted on 5/27/2015 Yeah, this tune out nice. Rare to see Trimpe go to extremes by incorporating such a delicately drawn woman in the midst of the ultimate battle scene. Now who are you going to give the honor to ink this? |

RIP Herb Trimpe (1939-2015) Owner: Dewey Cassell Comment posted on 4/14/2015 I too will sorely miss Herb - it's hard to believe I'll no longer be able to sneak away from the long line of fans at his table to catch a bite to eat. I knew him first from his G.I. Joe and Hulk work (which had a huge influence on me), but then got to know him just as a great person who loved his fans and worked hard to provide for his family. I was blown away when he agreed to drive down to my house from NY to DC to meet with fans at my 2010 Cherry Blossom Spectacular. It really showed how great a guy he was and I'm glad people got to know him better there. I was honored to help him over the years with his various sketchbook projects - it allowed me to get to know him better and appreciate a broader range of his art. I'll cherish the memories I had with Herb - you can't take those away. And, you can't take away the body of work he leaves behind. Dewey - I look forward to upcoming your tribute to Herb. |

KELLEY JONES & GERHARD Batman Gotham by Gaslamp Owner: Charles Costas Comment posted on 3/10/2015
eewwnuk 1 said:
These are amazing! Does he work over the original? ![]() Yes, the final pieces are drawn all on one board so it's important to use good paper (preferably illustration board like this one). Gerhard will work through drafts using "old school" tracing paper and then will transfer the pencils from the tracing paper to the final drawing. For coloring, he goes "modern" and tries out coloring combinations on the computer before committing it to the board. I'm sure he would work off a blueline, but for these projects, I wanted to make sure that both artists had drawn on the same piece of paper. |

Fantastic idea, fabulous execution. And that Dr. Manhattan is H-U-G-E huge compared to your original concept!!! :) ![]() Thanks for reminding me to tell that part of the story - originally, I expected it to be really small (like 2 inches tall), but when I got it back from Gibbons it was larger than I anticipated. In the end, probably better that way. |
