I think I recognize his art. He posted on Facebook, then I followed him on Instagram, then Instagram started telling me they thought I was a bot, and I've had issues getting on there ever since.

I've  no idea where it was all those years, but the color fading was immense.

A sincere "thank you" for the history lesson on the series.  My only exposure to it has been two random issues I picked up in the 90s (one from Dark Horse, the other I can't recall the publisher of) as well as a supplement to the second role-playing game that was published based on it a few years ago.

Then you'll be like "Bro, this dude is hounding me across every social media platform for it, and having his friends DM me to tell me to sell."

It actually focuses more on soldiers returning home after war to a society that wants to leave them to write in the wind or use them as expendable resources further, drawing inspiration from troops returning home post-WWI and the problems with the disfigured among them fitting in.

Plus, you know, steam-powered murderbots and good old "Sew decaying body party to people to draw crowds for your freak show."

It's her original character design, only appearing in four different issues of the main series in different clothing, plus a childhood flashback.  There was to be a fifth design, but as far as I know the only depiction of her in that is on a page of preview art I own.

I'm kind of sad with her modern design, as she seems to be wearing a push-up bra and has decided Power Girl's boob window would be a nice addition to her frock.  It kind of clashes with her being the chaste member of the main cast.

This is an amazing piece!  I've only seen a color piece of Danica's before, but her black & white work is stunning!

Did you get this back when they were publishing monthly and had the contests for the scripts in the letters page?

I still wonder if I could have won for the joke contest, if DC hadn'r "been cracking down," as Ennis put it in the column where the winner for that particular script contest was announced.

He didn't do any illustrations for the Technocracy in M20, did he?  I don't recall any in the core, but I haven't looked at any of the supplements.

This is crom either the first or second issue of Cap I ever read.  That takes me back.

I have to say I do like what I've seen if the Burnside costume design, which I understand puts me in a minority.

My only familiarity with Stephanie was when she appeared in a Catwoman arc around New52.  The collection I have felt like it was meant to have issues notincluded in it, so I don't have a handle on her character.

I just found out it was used as the cover for a PDF-only "Director's Cut" from Alphawave, released in January.  I guess I need to see if a hardcopy will ever be released.

This is when I admit I haven't paid much attention to the modern era.  Not enough filming in rock quarries and running down corridors for my taste.

As always, I appreciate a story behind someone acquiring a comic art page.

if you're looking for a fandom with big drama on whether the main character is alright with directly killing someone, might I recommend the Doctor Who fandom.  The novels in the years between the end of the series in 1989 until its 2005 return was rife with the topic.  One of the earliest involved the destruction of a universe, much like this page.  A throwaway line many books later tried to clear the Doctor on destroying a universe by saying it would have died anyway.  Never you mind that sounds like the fake ad in What The-?, with the "Dead babies, but it's OK because they'd have had a terrible life" joke.

I have a strange respect for artists depicting large or detailed shots through a chainlink fence.  I imagine it's frustrating for them to compose the background of the piece and then have to put in all the links, both obscuring their background and spending all thst tedious time illustrsting every link.

This really is a striking page.  I would honestly have assumed it was a cover, if you hadn't noted otherwise.

I'd forgotten about the two guys and their Union talk.  I remember Uncanny 185 had a pair chatting about Rogue and Storm saving their boat, and it was just a part of Women's Lib.  I always enjoy the asides by normal folk discussing how superhumans impact their daily lives.

It's a lovely page!   I was tempted to bid on it, but I'm stashing the cash for a larger commission at the momemt.

I love the fact that if Fury hadn't shocked everyone by killing Hitler they might never have escaped the mutant-induced dreamworld.

And Byrne always drew the best beard stubble on Fury.

Congrats on completimg the story!  I've got two comics complete, sans covers, but they're only from the 80s.  I'm not sure if the still-active publisher would have issues with me sharing them, since the stories are still in-print in collections.

The design for this gun mage ensemble has them wearing four holsters, two on each hip, one behind the other.  The mage gun designs are much smaller than real pistols, due to them being alchemically and magically powered, so they’re small enough to have two on each hip in a holster.  The other two holsters are flush against the back of the front holsters depicted in the picture. 

I liked how when Caldwell did my grail he changed it to a third pistol worn at the small of the back, and since then I haven’t had anyone go with the four-gun setup.

That's actually a published piece, not a commission.  It was used in the Marvel SAGA RPG that WOTC published.

My favorite Unexpected story.

It's funny you say that.  Back in the 80s Ben had a contest with a prize of a hand painted NHS cel he did, but I don't know if anyone won the contest, or if it was ever painted.  When I first got into art collecting there were a few artists who did commissioned cels, but they stopped selling before I could take the plunge.

That signature is still less weird than the art dealer who signed their name on the back of a page I bought from them.

I have to admit being out of the loop regarding CGC scandals.  I've heard only one story regarding CGC drama, but since I put my funds into art instead of slabs I don't really have contact with that part of the comic community.

Such a great series.  I had a letter printed in one issue.  If memory serves they edited it, but in their response referenced something they edited out.  
 

Strangely, that was the second time I had that happen.

Back in the late 90s/early 2000s there was a DC Direct figure of Wonder Woman with an axe, and it seems like an accessory that's popped up every so often when she's had a figure released since.

I have to drop Mark a line anyway, so I can ask if he remembers the reason for the axe's inclusion.

As much as I loved this series, this sequence left me wondering if the creators knew the F-14 has a Vulcan minigun they could have falled back on.

The funny thing is almost every time I commission the character the artist goes with this pose.  No idea why.

I'd recently heard Clyde wasn't doing commissions anymore, but was unaware Elmore had stopped as well.  I'd talked to him once about doing a gun mage piece, but nothing ever came of it.

I never tried talking to Easley about a commission, but I did reach out to Fields, and never heard back.

I guess I need to dig out my other Caldwell commission and Elmore sketch and get them posted on here.

I'm reminded of the Silver Age reprint of "The Boy With The X-Ray Eyes" Suoergirl story, where the part of the cover representing the story shows the aforementioned boy using his power to watch Supergirl as she changes into her costume.

All these years later I still remember hiw much a friend and I laughed  at that.  I inagine we drew some stares at the comic com, we were laughing so hard.

I’m honestly jealous.  I got the promotional e-mail about issue one, jumped on to E-Bay to see if the cover was listed, and was confused to see the cover to issue two up for sale.  Then I checked completed auctions and saw your cover and let out a sigh.

Very nice!  I had some friends in the 80s who had a cooy of Attack of the Mutants, and I stumbled onto a copy at a yard sale in 2005.  I've yet to see the introductory copy mentioned in the ad, nor talked to anyone who has.

Yep.  "Allan Jeff" is what he goes by on Facebook, while his account here is under "Allan Jefferson."  Then I talked to someone on here a while ago and they noted he goes under "Allan Souza" as well.

I've missed out on some artwork over the years because I was unaware of different names artists went by, so I thought I should list them all.  Though as I tyoe this I wonder if I should be listing my "Dave Dorman" stuff as "David Dorman" as well.

About a month ago I stumbled onto the fact there's a place called "Skye" in the part of Scotland she hails from.  I'm not sure if that's a coincidence or an intentional pun, as the character creator is from the States, but the artist who did her design is from the UK.

I've always thought it was meant to be biker leathers, mistly because it reminds me of some ensembles I've seen by female bikers who are more about the look than actually biking, but probably also due to a faint memory of motorcycles in Final Fantasy VIII.
