So is it now wrong to express an opinion, (regardless of if you're "relevant" or not)? I was always taught the purpose of art was to encourage discussion. ![]() Does that include thinly veiled physical threats? |

Superb! I was going to bid on these but I seem to remember the seller refusing to post outside of the U.S., i was gutted but many congratulations to you sir on getting these fantastic pages ![]() Snap! I actually contacted the guy but he had no interest in posting outside the U.S. (even Canada was a no-no) so I basically gave up. Anyways congrats on this amazing piece of work and you are correct, the colouring on this comic was amongst the worst I've ever seen (which is saying something!). It looks like they gave a toddler a box of fluorescent markers and told them to go nuts.... |

its a real shame with that fold. I'd charge you about $1200 to repair it. still a great piece but what a shame. ![]() Thanks for the offer, but it's really not so bad in the flesh. You'd only notice the crease in artificial light. |

The Man at his frigging best! Congrats on this huge piece... your next goal is to have it totally restored! ![]() Cheers Davide, it's a real pity about the crease on the board, but, if this was in perfect condition it may never have ended up in our collection. So every cloud has a silver lining...! (I do intend getting it restored at some point and have even been in contact with Simon about it) |

Slaine page Owner: david hitchcock Comment posted on 12/6/2012
david hitchcock said:
Thanks Davide, Paul and Patrick. I've used 'printed papers' on a lot of stuff, but Heritage insist on declaring full value, which is a legal requirement I guess. However, I think it should be capped, a flat fee. Not a made up one. I have joked to other collectors before...but this time It really would pay to fly over there, buy a load and bring it back in a portfolio-----could save myself a fortune. Sadly, I cannot bid on anything again, knowing these charges are to come on top of the final value fee has well and truly destroyed the hobby for me. ![]() Hi David, firstly amazing page! One of the best, I too have had had this experience buying from Heritage, I'm currently waiting for them to ship a Slaine Page to me (in Ireland) from the same auction. I'm unsure of what to do....maybe if I go with UPS I won't get charged as much as FedEx. The last Slaine page I got (http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=932743&GSub=135095) was hit with an astronomical charge about , really took the good out of the whole thing. It would have been cheaper to go to Texas for the weekend |
