The first thing that popped into my head is that final scene in Avengers Infinity War with Thanos sitting there in his little shack overlooking everything. Is this the only piece in your theme done in profile? Such a bold and interesting choice to do it from the side angle. Very cool. Congrats buddy! ![]() Thanks Eric! While I think just about every angle has been covered with my theme, yes, this is the first profile piece. |

The good old days (from 1992 catalog) Owner: E DLS Comment posted on 12/14/2020
E DLS said:
I was a comic dealer at this time, so I actually spent more time selling comics than collecting them. The early 90's were the waning days of my business, and by the mid 90's I had basically packed it in. In terms of art collecting, these were my formative years. And while I was about ten years into it, there was still a lot for me to learn. Just like anything else, I think it was just a matter of growth. Back then, I basically bought what I liked, and could afford (which wasn't much). And of course, over the years, the list of things I liked grew (along with my income). So while it's easy enough to say we should have bought this stuff when it was cheap, remember that it only seems cheap NOW. Back then, if you were in the present, the price was just the price and it just came down to buying choices. I'm pretty sure the people who were lucky enough to buy these pieces back then, didn't buy them because they saw them as cheap. They just bought what they liked. I look at all of these piece now and while I love many of them, I probably didn't think much of them back then. Live and learn. ![]() Too true, Eric. I was just a poor high school/college student during those times. I knew someof these pages were out there, but of course, I couldn't afford them at the time. Still, I wish I had found a page from Silvestri's X-Men run back then and lived on tuna fish for a few weeks! ;) |

The good old days (from 1992 catalog) Owner: E DLS Comment posted on 12/14/2020 Once again I'm reminded that I should have been collecting the art instead of most of the comics I purchased back in the 90's!!! |

E DLS said:
Love me some X-babies. And although Wolvie would not have been my first choice, these days a pup version of Logan is a lot more fun and interesting than the over drawn adult version. Great piece! ![]() Okay Eric, now I'm intrigued, which X-Baby would have been your choice? |

Emma Frost, the White Queen, claims the "Iron" Throne Owner: Joshua McCoy Comment posted on 6/8/2020
E DLS said:
I love this! You'd think that "cute" wouldn't necessarily work on these themed commissions, but this is a great one! AND it's darn cute too! LOL ![]() Ha! Thanks Eric! "Cute" works! I found early on in this process that limiting my thinking to "serious" pieces would really have me missing out on some great opportunities to add some very unique and fun pieces to my theme. |

Colossus claims the “Iron” Throne Owner: Joshua McCoy Comment posted on 5/18/2020
K Gearon said:
Great idea to use the Sinister pose - I always wondered why they looked so similar :) Seriously though, love the ties holding the throne together and that the Soulsword was included! Sweet image all around. Congrats! ![]() When he first arrived on the scene, that was my initial thought, too. I kept waiting for Marvel to drop the bomb that Sinister was an evil version of Colossus from the future or an alternate timeline. |

I'm such a sucker for pieces with heavy use of black. But just because an artist slaps a ton of ink on something, doesn't mean it's a slam dunk. They still have to know what they're doing. This is a great example of getting it right. Absolutely gorgeous piece! Another instant fave for me. Congrats buddy! ![]() Thanks, Eric! Ale is definitely a wizard with an ink brush. I gotta ask Doc...is that YOUR head under Conan's foot? ![]() Ha! No, not mine. I actually asked Andrea if it was his, because it resembled a picture of him online. E DLS said:
Is this your first Conan GoT commission? Hard to believe since he seems like such an obvious choice to sit in the "big chair". Anyway, easily one of the most powerful examples in your GoT theme. Congratulations buddy! ![]() Thanks, Eric! It is! I'd considered it in the past, but since I was sticking with Marvel Universe characters, I had mentally crossed him off my list. Once the charcter passed back to Marvel though . . . it was time to make it happen. |
