I have loved comics since I was 7 years old, when my uncle Paul gave me his old collection. Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, The Avengers, Batman, Superman, The Flash. . . it was a longbox full of assorted titles and I fell in love immediately. I began reading everything I could get my hands on-- novels, poetry, nonfiction, science, philosophy, religion. Comics introduced me to reading, and for that I love them most. I started collecting original comic book art almost 2 years ago. My first piece was a John Cassaday Alpha Flight/X-Men page. I began collecting according to the principle that I would like to have an original page from each of my favorite comic book series, and a commission or sketch from each of my favorite artists. This method of collecting will keep me busy and fulfilled for the rest of my life, because there is so much out there that I love. Also! I love to get con sketches, but I get a specific thrill from getting sketches by inkers and colorists. I like to see the compositional skills of the non-compositional artists. I've also begun tricking professional inkers into inking my own pencils. In my non-work time, I play in a rock band or two and practice drawing. I hope to one day be able to illustrate my own comic book stories that moves people like I've been moved by my favorite creators.
