I'm a Belgian based collector & dealer of original comic art, old woodprints, ephemera and more.
I started collecting stuff when i started going to flea-markets at the age of 14 (that's in the 1980's). The things i discovered there at six in the morning, you simply don't find anymore these days. I started collecting Original Comic art when i was about 20 when i bought my first 'Flemish' original by Willy Vandersteen in a small comic book store in Ghent, Flanders.
Throughout my younger years i made some wrong (sometimes forced) decisions to sell my comic art, decisions that also influenced the art that i collect now. When i was 25, i had 20 pages by Willy Vandersteen, now i'm just looking for 'the one' !
My taste in comic books changed and my love for manga grew after reading Buddha by Osamu Tezuka and thus looking into other series he drew. Quickly i discovered that Japan has a lot more to offer than just Osamu Tezuka. It's like talking about Hergé but forgetting about Franquin, Peyo, Moebius and all the other greats.
Besides Tezuka, I tend to favorise Fumio Hisamatsu, Jiro Kuwata and Hiroshi Kaizuka but i also tend to follow my heart and simply buy the pieces i like. This means i don't follow the mainstream trends and frequently buy items that are unknown in the western world :-)
I have the good fortune of having someone close to me that visits Tokyo 3 or 4 times a year (work related) and, by now, knows his way around the shops and comikets. This way i have been blessed with some remarkable items that otherwise i wouldn't have been able to buy.
