Challengers of the Unknown [Ace Morgan; Rocky Davis; Prof Haley; Red Ryan]; Granny Stopes; The Legion of the Weird [Mistress Vera Wycker; Count Karnak; Madoga; Hordred; Kaftu] | Ace is struck down by the last witch of Salem, Mistress Wycker, who wants to join Count Karnak, Kaftu, Hordred, and Madoga, in The Legion of Weird. Rocky calls his Granny Snopes, an Appalachian wise woman, who shows Rocky how to make a "geechy bag" to throw in the witch's face. The Challs use a dowsing rod act as a "witch's compass" to lead them. The Legion throws magicks in the Challs' path, but finally Rocky spots the witch. He holds Ace's hand to throw the bag in her face. She screams and melts! Ace wakes, but burned in the wall is the warning, "We shall meet again." |

comic story | The Mad Challenger: Me-- The Walking Nightmare! |
Pencils: Bob Brown Inks: Mike Esposito Letters: Milt Snapinn ? |
Challengers of the Unknown [Ace Morgan; Rocky Davis; Prof Haley; Red Ryan [Seekeenakee]]; Tiana; Herbert Pike; Multi-Man; Kra | After Red was supposedly killed, he had amnesia. Recalling only Challenger Island, he went there and met Multi-Man, made his Liquid Light formula, but drank it himself. Red turned into a man-fish and swam into pirates, then collapsed, waking in chains. Pike had put him on exhibit as "The Lord of the Ocean," where he befriended a Polynesian girl, Tiana. Pike persuaded Red to become Seekeenakee, a tiki legend, and fetched Tiana. Red transformed into the "living god" for revenge, but the girl regretted betraying the gods and fell to her apparent death, causing Red to go to war as Seekeenakee. |
