Description

In this hobby, the term grail gets used a lot. With that said, this truly is a personal grail level piece. The Death of Superman captured my imagination as a young teen reader like few since have ever been able to do. It was the first real event in comics that I was able to experience on a week to week basis and it remains a favorite to this day, I still read or leaf through the trade quite often. Now I know the unobtainable grails would be a Doomsday drawn by Dan & Brett from the Death story but those will always be out of my reach, so this page I have acquired is quite literally the next best thing! This is from the sequel story Hunter/Prey. I feel like this story is often overlooked but it featured the rematch between the two as well as featuring some excellent work from Dan & Brett!

The story is quite fun and provides another thowdown as well as provided us with the origin of Doomsday, something I as a teen reader was desperate to learn! The page I was able to pick up is a very memorable & important moment in the revelation of Doomsday’s origin & motive. Here Waverider learns that when Doomsday looks at Superman he sees him as Bertron, the scientist, who on an ancient Krypton, created him in such a cruel fashion. So I am thrilled and honored to have this key moment now in my collection.
