Description

What could be more natural than sitting down to a meal with Marvel’s first family? A brilliant riff on Norman Rockwell’s “Freedom From Want”, this piece perfectly captures the core truth of the Fantastic Four: family. Absolutely bursting with life in the original black and white, this major-holiday-weekend-sized page (at 15 x 22!) is a veritable horn-of-plenty feast for the eyes.

As in all of Bryan’s work, every beautiful character detail is present (from Cap’s shield adorning Franklin’s swizzle-straw to Ben's reinforced chair to Johnny’s lighting of the candle on the table) and the composition and shading on Ben (especially his right shoulder and left hand) can’t help but monopolize the viewer’s attention. ‘Sincere gratitude’ is indeed the theme of the day.
