Description

Perhaps my greatest commission ever.

I worked out this commission with Gerhard years ago and we came up with the idea to use a Bernie Wrightson Batman piece that I own as the central figure. Ger light boxed Bernie’s Batman and created the rest of the scene around him. He showed me the pencils for his design and I was completely blown away. Then… the unthinkable happened… After Ger started inking it he was disappointed with the way Batman was turning out and didn’t feel he had done Wrightson justice. The entire commission was abandoned midway and Ger swore it would never be completed. He also swore off superhero pieces completely. “No. More. Superheroes. Period.” This was years back and he has held true to his word since then.

Fast forward to 2022… Completely out of the blue Ger contacted me and said he had decided to finish the commission after all. Boy am I ever glad he did!

A true masterpiece!
