Description

Issue #299 is McFarlane�s second cover from his run on The Amazing Spider-Man. The issue is a highly sought-after piece of comic book art, not only for its striking composition, but also for its rarity. This cover is one of only three covers McFarlane created for The Amazing Spider-Man that features Spider-Man in his black suit.

The cover's significance is further elevated by the fact that the story within the book included the first appearance (birth page) of Venom. Venom has become one of Spider-Man's most iconic villains.

McFarlane's work on the title helped define the era's distinct style. His bold and intricate linework paved the way for a new generation of comic book artists.
