Description

Dan Mora first caught my attention with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers relaunch at Boom, but his original art has been hard to come by since then, so he was my top priority when I saw him listed as attending C2E2 this year. I got in line when the show opened, and after hours (and hours) of waiting, I was lucky enough to pick up this cover from Dark Knights of Steel. It was the one DC piece I was hoping Dan would have available, and I'm super excited to be able to add it to my collection (and grateful to the other art collectors in front of me for passing on it).

For those unfamiliar with the title, Dark Knights of Steel is a medieval elseworlds take on the DC universe, and it has become one of my favorite titles from DC in recent memory (up there with the first Batman: White Knight series). It manages to keep the core of the DC characters while adding interesting twists to them (no spoilers). Dan started doing the main covers with issue #5, and this is one of my favorite covers that he did for the series. It features the full DC trinity (Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman) in their outfits from this universe, beautifully rendered in Dan's more animated style. Wonder Woman was the main draw (I love her warrior outfit with the arm armor), and then there's Batman wearing a suit of armor with bat ears (because, of course, he is).
