Description

"Now that i found you, hear what i have to say. One song, I have but one song. One song only for you." The momentous first meeting of the Prince and Snow White in Disney's first animated feature film, SNOW WHITE and the SEVEN DWARFS, was planned using this layout drawing. Rendered in graphite with red color pencil key lines, this picture displays a timid Snow White hiding behind the window as the prince, charmed as he meets her for the first time performs his famous song, as seen starting at the 5:46 mark of the film. This drawing originally offered for sale by the Courvoisier Program has an image size of 9.75"x 18.5", allowing us to marvel at the romantic scene, staged on the detailed portrayal of the ornamented balcony and the flowering trees on the 12.5" x 22.25" animation sheet. The exact drawing can be seen on page 66 of Taschen's book THE WALT DISNEY FILM ARCHIVES; THE ANIMATED MOVIES 1921-1968. Heritage Auction house attributes the work to Gustaf Tenggren. I disagree and say the artist was Albert Hurter.
