OAX 2025 Auction Piece

This Elektra watercolor illustration piece by Mike McKone was added as a last minute (previously not advertised as being in the auction) lot to the OAX Auction that happened at the show on Saturday night.

Almost sight unseen, Daryl R ended up with the win! Check out the photo I took of Daryl and Jeff celebrating this hard fought auction victory in the additional images!

After some "Yada yada yada"...and "TLDR" between Daryl and myself that night at Miller's...the next day on the show floor, Daryl came up to me with the Elektra McKone piece and told me to take it home with me, adding another gifted piece of artwork to my haul! I'll keep the rest of the story between us but I'll always remember the way this went down, thank you so much Daryl! Finally getting the chance to meet and hang out with Daryl was one of the best parts of my OAX experience.

This Friday on The EXP is an auction benefitting the family of one of Daryl's fellow Vegas PD officers whom unfortunately lost his life in the line of duty shortly after Daryl returned home from OAX. I've donated some art and plan on bidding to help raise money as well. Hope to see many of you there to support this cause.

P.S. - I had to use a cropped image from a phone scan to get this piece to show properly, as the watercolor warped the board so heavily when it dried that it has too many shadows throughout the art board when I use my flatbed scanner to get an image, especially on the sides of the art area. I tried flattening it more the last few weeks in-between weighted portfolios, but still no success getting a proper flatbed scan due to the image being shadowed. Oh well.
