Description

I saw work that Paul produced for sale at the CAF Live event in November 2025 and immediately loved his expressive and well-lit figures, rendered in C. Coles Phillips' "vanishing girl" style on a pleather mat. He was interested in trying his hand at Kitty and Lockheed, so he sent me nine potential poses with Lockheed around Kitty's shoulders as if they were posing for a portrait. I had the idea of Lockheed licking her face, spoiling the intended scene. Dog owners, can you relate?

Paul ran with that notion and produced above and beyond what either of us hoped for. Kitty's expression is hilarious. The arc of drool curving away from Lockheed's tongue makes clear which direction his tongue is moving. The lighting suggests one source on each side of her. Limgenco rendered the costume (its yellow pieces at least) with an Alex Ross level of realism, including wrinkles and reinforced seams.

Paul shipped the art safely in Masonite and added a large sketch of a gloved hand holding a sword; a close-up of Kate Pryde as the Red Queen from X-Men's Krakoa era. Additionally, this is one of the smoothest and most collaborative commission experiences I've had. Turnaround time on the art was less than three weeks, with frequent progress reports.
