Description

Superman #3003 Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 8-9-48 (McClure Newspaper Syndicate, 1948). Boring's vision of Superman defined the character for the post-World War II readership, right on through the 1950s. Boring's dynamic, surging depiction, here, contains matched portraits of Clark Kent and his alter ego, Superman, and then moves to an undersea location as the hero hastens to rescue an endangered diving expedition. Brilliant cinematic shadowplay, with dramatic use of black ink-spotting.
