Big check off the list with this one! First piece by BWS, and first published piece by him or Trimpe! Being a kid of the '80s there were many a 4-issue limited series I got my hands on and though I found Machine Man later it sits right up there with 'em all. It's the first book I think of when I think "BWS" and to say I'm happy to have nabbed a page is an understatement. I should've made it a priority earlier but in past years I'd think "eh, I can wait - who else cares about Machine Man?" :) Whoops. But all good - it's here now!

Got Trimpe on layouts and BWS on finishes, and it's clear in those faces that it's BWS doing the illustrating. In this first issue MM is reawakened in the year 2020, but with some glitches, which are getting worked out here. My criteria in a page was MM prominently featured AND that BWS mech prominently featured as well...check and check. As far as the latter, I've been poring over the second panel lots since it's been in hand. Gorgeous stuff.

And if you haven't read the mini, I'd recommend it. Vintage storytelling with a sci-fi twist that still holds up well. AND you got art like this?! Get to it.
