DescriptionThe second strip from the adventure "Fact or Fiction", what we now would call an "action comedy" (and an excellent one, to boot) where Mr. Alpha's insufferable nephew, the writer Trimble "Trimby" Cathcart, made his first appearance. Trimby was always "living" the subject of his books to gather background and facts so I suppose Robbins was inspired by the likes of Tom Wolfe and Hunter S. Thompson when he created him.He was a great addition to the strip and as opposed to Johnny's sidekicks in the past he wasn't just comic relief but functioned as the driving force in the adventures he instigated and sometimes it felt like Johnny didn't have any other choice than trying to keep up with Trimby's harebrained schemes and hope for the best. This is another fine example of Frank Robbins moving the camera angle almost 180 degress in one strip, using the bird's-eye shot as the bridge between the two extremes. Social/Sharing |
