Description

I have been a fan of blue lines for over 20 years. I have several Mignola Richmond Lewis ones and each one is a treasure. It is such a cool process and this is what was shot for the final cover, not the inks. I feel they are very under rated and are fantastic paintings and display well.
Being the big Samurai fan I am, it's no surprise I am a Usagi fan, so was an easy decision to go after one of these covers when like 5 popped up a few months ago on ebay. Plus it had the production printer proof with the type! Luckily the one I liked the most went the cheapest! win win. Who doesn't love tentacles and ghosts! Enjoy the scan.

Oh and if anyone knows where the original inks are and or has them and wants to sell hit me up!

So one more add to the description, while googling to find a good pic of the finish art I came across a post by Chris Covington on facebook about how this was a homage to a famous woodblock print - see extra image and thanks to Chris

"This print is from Utagawa Kuniyoshi (歌川国芳) and it depicts Ariomaru saving his master, the monk Shunkan from the giant octopus. This is a famous story of the 12th century Kyoto monk and his servant and was a bunraku and kabuki play that was popular in the late Edo era. The monk, rebelling against the Taira was exiled to an island. He escaped to guard the emperor's pregnant daughter. To get off the island they had to battle the guardian beast."
