Saverio Tenuta [1969-2023] was a comic book author known for producing the script, the drawing and the coloring of his works. In 1992, Saverio Tenuta obtained his diploma in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, as well as a diploma in comics from the International School of Comics in Rome. The following year, the author begins to work as a graphic designer in advertising. His first comics are short stories and covers for different Italian publishers. From 1996, he began a collaboration with several American publishers: he painted a cover for Event on Ash , another for SQP Conan the cruel... He also publishes for the American Sirius editions and the Comic Art editions in Italy, a one-shot, Dolls written by Lorenzo Bartoli. After having collaborated with Phoenix, an Italian publishing house, on various albums, such as Laida Odius, or Saverio Tenuta's Technological Nightmares , he published there his first graphic novel Cold Graze, risvegli di ghiaccio (Ice Awakenings), written by Otto Gabos. In 2001, he participated in the Justice League of America (main American superheroes) with Riddle of the beast, a new graphic published by DC Comics, with painting works for the Batman section, on a text by Alan Grant. Through a series of short stories in painting, (Human contacts, Light, Carpe Diem, Smoke, Tamous, Lessons of ethics), Saverio is a regular guest on the pages of Heavy Metal, which honored him with the publication of a special 80-page dedicated to Morrigan, published by Sirius in the United States and by Magic Press in Italy. He also publishes an art-book entitled Elegia, published by Heavy Metal. In 2006, Les Humanoïde Associés published the first part of a four-volume Japanese medieval adventure, La Légende des nuées écarlates. With bewitching graphics, Tenuta takes us into the dreamlike world of the Land of the Rising Sun. The universe of The Legend of the Scarlet Clouds extends from 2014 with Izunas, where Tenuta provides the script while Carita Lupatelli takes charge of the drawing. The author continues to develop the universe with the first volume of The Mask of Fudo in 2016. The Daniel Maghen gallery devoted an exhibition to him in March 2021 through the original works of his series The Legend of the Scarlet Clouds and The Mask of Fudo. |
