Alex Wald, Astromonster Fine Arts

Alex Wald is a 29 year veteran of the comic art field. Signing on as production manager of First Comics in 1983, I became the company art director the following year. As a freelancer, I've drawn comics for DC's Paradox Press; Big Book series (stories in 8 volumes); Harvey Pekar's American Splendor; Dark Horse's Urban Legends and others. My interior and cover illustrations have appeared in Playboy, Hustler, Nickelodeon, Roctober, Monster Attack Team and many others. I've designed and illustrated LP and 45 rpm record packaging for Estrus, Hopeless and various indy labels. My involvement with Japanese sf and fantasy film goes back further than my comics career. I've done production design for the unfilmed Ultraman: Hero from the Stars (1981) and written and illustrated for the fan press as well. Perhaps my proudest achievement was being commissioned by Tsuburaya Productions to paint Ultraman for the international market. Astromonster Fine Arts is my publishing division for limited edition prints and original soft vinyl (sofubi) kaiju toys for collectors. Many of these originals are available for sale for the first time. We like commissions too, so please write with inquiries!
