Flamebird by Ron Salas

I've always liked Bette Kane. She was a tennis player who had a crush on Robin, and to get his attention she became a costumed crimefighter. She was the very first Batgirl (or Bat-Girl), and later changed her identity to Flamebird before joining the Teen Titans. She never tends to appear for very long in comics, disappearing for years at a time. I think it's probably because she's just too fun and creators don't know what to do with her. I hated seeing her get taken down so easily by that Hook guy in Batwoman, but they seem to have long-term plans for her now, bringing Bette back under yet another identity: Hawkfire. Anyway, this is my favorite costume she's worn, and Ron did a great job of making her look like she's tough enough to belong in Batman's army here. Ron has her bravely leaping into a burning building, either to rescue someone or take down some bad guys, maybe even both. I love the flames and debris, and for some reason I really like how he drew her hair. Now everyone go give Ron more drawing money so we can keep seeing beautiful pieces like this!
