Description

For many years, The Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company, one of the oldest and most prestigious insurance firms, ran ads in "Yachting magazine". The full page ads ran monthly in each issue and usually were the first thing a reader would see, running on page #1.
Raymond was hired on and his illustrations appeared from August 1941 until July 1942, with the exception of the May 1942 issue. Raymond used a grey ink wash over a pencil or ink drawing, and the wash added a myriad of shading and tonal effects.
The series of 10 illustrations must have been among his favorite works, as 4 of the illustrations hung in his studio where he enjoyed looking at them.

December 1941 illustration is entitled "You show’em Dad!" and features a family enjoying a day out at sea.
It also appeared in the book "Alex Raymond. His Life and Art", on page #150.

What an awesome acquisition! I do believe this was the one illustration that I had seen in a pic of Alex Raymond's studio hanging up, so cool!

As I wrote in the description, I knew that 4 of these illustrations were hung in Raymond's studio. Didn't know which one ! But, thanks to Thomas comment I start searching and I've found this additional picture and... it was amazing to see my piece right there, on the wall of Raymond' studio ! So... thank you Thomas for your comment that suggested me to search....
