Description

My favorite Infantino/Oksner image from the series.

I recall back in 2004/2005 that this splash and a 70's Spider-Woman splash were on eBay at approximately the same time. I lost out on the Spider-Woman and if my memory is correct I was the underbidder. I then directed all the funds I would have spent on that to this Supergirl piece. Zero regrets as I was always a big fan of Kara and this splash has resided in my collection for the last 20 years.

:) Yep, very early in your SW journey and prior to it being "public knowledge". I no longer recall which SW splash it was...

Beautifully drawn, and beautifully written. The line "rose hope, like the phoenix from the flame" makes me think of one of Supergirl's later incarnations, with her wings of fire.
