For a fan of Jose Luis Garcia Lopez and Watchmen it doesn't get much better for me! I was thrilled when DC launched their Before Watchmen series as it gave variety of artists to show their take on the characters! I always loved the Minutemen variant cover by Garcia Lopez and missed an opportunity to own the original cover. Even when I saw this double prelim to the cover listed for sale it had already been sold at a recent NJ Art Con that I was unable to attend. When I found out another dealer had acquired the piece it was just a matter of working out a trade for the piece at NYCC. They didn't have the piece with them at the show but it recently arrived in the mail. I love this piece, especially seeing the unused layout. I'd love to reunite this prelim with the published cover art one day!

No matter what he's illustrating, JLGL always gives us hope that the good guys will win. Great art !!!

The prelim shows his strong sense of composition for dramatic cover designs to bring a full team shot. It shows that his work is still a powerful voice and not just seen as a throwback.
