DescriptionThis arrived just before I left for vacation, and I'm TOTALLY IN LOVE! 😻 And somehow it looks so fittingly Christmassy to me! 🌟❄️Back in October I had the chance to meet the Japanese illustration artist Taeko Ozaki in Zürich. I've been following Taeko's work for quite a while now, and really love her creations. So I was very excited to meet her and her beautiful works in person. I had never seen her create comic art or commissions of this sort before, so when I discussed my idea with her I think she was both quite surprised and excited to take on the challenge. The process was so much fun as we got to discuss her art as well as the character, the origin mythology [wings et al], the books, and the wonderful artists who illustrated them [and of course Yoshitaka Amano!], while she shared each step of the creation of this incredible piece with me. There's quite a lot I love about this piece, including her signature florals and gorgeous details, as well as the way she uses sharp bright colours on the edges of the generally dark tones of the image [make sure to zoom-in]. And the face of course is just brilliantly done. This is definitely one of those pieces you should see up-close. Social/Sharing |

I know right? =D She's amazing and I'd love to see more of this from her too. I think I'll just have to make more requests of her!

It can put you in a dreamlike trance to study the levels of depth within each pattern and texture! It's by skill and patience to do all this mixture of line over fluid wash ink.

Oh absolutely, the patterns and textures are a very distinctive part of her style and they're mind blowing!
