Jaime Hernandez: Vivian, aka Frogmouth

Yes, I finally managed to get my sweaty hands on a Jaime drawing. This one was scoped up at the Fantagrapics Benefit Auction to help pay Fanta's jury fees.

Vivian, aka The Frogmouth, is Jaime's newest character, she's hotheaded, sexy and crazy womanly vulnerable at times - in short: No man get's her or get's to her.

Jaime's all time favorite character Maggie, meets the voluptuous Vivian the "Frogmouth," a curvaceous, hapless bombshell with a foghorn voice who is despised by Hopey (Maggie's long time on-again-off-again girlfriend, now a bartender sporting an eye patch after one of Vivian's previous bottle-breaking altercations).

Maggie finds herself swept up in Vivian's life of random catfights, her mob-connected, knife-wielding stalker ex-boyfriend, and his violently jealous fiancée. Maggie and Vivian eventually strike up a reluctant and awkward romance.

A totally sexy pin-up of Vivian. I remember seeing this on appear alongside Jaime's introduction to The Pin-Up Art of Dan DeCarlo book two. Congratulations on obtaining such a sizzling illustration.

Hi Ben, thanks for your comment, actually I scanned my image for Fantagraphics in order to include it in the Don DeCarlo book ;-) And now, a couple years later, I have just spent the weekend with Jaime here in Copenhagen at the Copenhagen Comics Con. I was selling Jaimes pre-made drawings for him in my shop and after that he and I had a nice sitdown and talked for some time, before he had to go on. Jaime is extremely nice. Best Con ever!
