Description

Ernie BUSHMILLER
Nasce a New York (USA) il 23 agosto 1905. Per pagarsi gli studi serali alla National academy of drawing lavora come fattorino al New York World, dove fa le prime esperienze da disegnatore come assistente di Rudolph Dirks, H.T. Webster e Milt Gross. Nel 1925 dà vita a Fritzi Ritz, una spumeggiante eroina che in seguito viene distribuita dall'United Feature Syndicate e gli regala una certa fama (e un contratto con Hollywood come autore di scenette e gag per i film comici di Harold Lloyd).
Nel 1930 arricchisce la serie con Phil Fumble, svagato fidanzato della ragazza, e nel 1933 con Nancy (Tittì in Italia sulle pagine del Corriere dei piccoli), nipotina terribile che ben presto soppianta la zia nelle preferenze del pubblico. Nancy diventa così titolare delle strisce quotidiane e delle tavole domenicali, affiancata dall'amico Sluggo (in Italia la serie viene ribattezzata "Arturo e Zoe" e accompagna per anni i lettori di Monello e Intrepido).
