DescriptionI got this from a recent trip with my son to the KC Planet ComicCon, and we both liked this piece so I purchased it as a momento from our trip. For him it was his first ComicCon, and for me the first in > 35 years...We both had a great time, but things sure have changed... Most notably the number of women at this event... In the old days, it seemed like these were purely guy events, but it was nice to see the female influence so predominant in this culture today... One of the women I got to meet was Tommy's really nice wife... She was a ball of energy and a really great individual with everyone she spoke with... We shared a really nice laugh when a young girl asked to have her picture taken with her... She was dressed in pretty modern attire, so I asked who she was supposed to be, thinking the little girl knew something I didn't... Mrs. Castillo laughed, shrugged her shoulders and said, "I dress like this everyday"!!! :) Tommy told me "Critter" is a prelim for a character form the story "The Fallen", which may be made in the works for a production at some point. Tommy was also discussing a project called "The Darker Side of Oz", which he had some really nice pieces for, but all in all, I walked away with almost all the money I took with me The only disappointment for me, was there were really no art dealers at the show. I had hoped to run across a few choices to add to my Wrightson collection. But other than one incredibly overpriced piece (3 times what it didn't sell on Ebay for), there really wasn't anything to be had. Don't know how many more ComicCon's I'm going to attend, but I understand Bernie Wrightson will be in Dallas in October... So, while it may also be the last ComicCon I attend, I have at least one more trip in my future... I am going to make sure my son and I meet and thank the Wrighson's in person... And a picture of my son with Liz and Bernie: "Priceless"... Social/Sharing |
