Description
That an inker can make a HUGE difference is a fact that should surprise no one who is a frequent visitor to CAF.

In 1997's "The Art of Comic Book Inking", writer (and inker) Gary Martin assembled a stellar panel of artists and illustrated this very point.

For the two examples here, on the left we have Steve Rude's inking on vellum and on the right, Brian Bolland's lightboxed/redrawn version, both over Rude's bluelines.

The Rude inked vellum comes from Jim Warden and Bolland's redrawn version is from Don Heinsberg. Thanks, gentlemen!

Quite a difference. I like the way Rude uses blacks to create depth

Having had the Bolland inked version for a while have to say I prefer Rude's inking. Then again I think that artists should ink their own work for best results. They are both lovely.
