DescriptionI came across this thing at an original art show that, along with a couple of others, seems really weird. Especially if true. It ~seems~ that, after DC's success with their Justice League / Society team-up that a number of small press companies decided to team up to try to glom on to that success (kinda like a 60's The Asylum I guess). As best as I can tell from the covers the idea of this thing is that the baddies all team up and fight the good guys (clearly, we were a few years off from Crisis). The second part was in Charlton Premiere #20. The third part was in The Mighty Crusaders #8.And, in case you can't read the cover text (I had to play with the scan a bit to bring it out), the characters are, top left to top right : Harvey Comics' Magic Master, Scarlet Nemesis, Phantom Sphinx, Red Demon and Glowing Gladiator followed by Mighty Comics Group's (as in Archie) Black Hood, Fly-Girl, Zambini, Pow Girl and the Comet followed by Charlton's Son of Vulcan, Yang, Judomaster, Blue Beetle and Nightshade. In the center you have the Harvey Heroes (top to bottom) the Human Meteor, Jack Q. Frist, the Black Cat and Jigsaw. In the center are the baddies from the Mighty Crusaders first appearance: Wax-Man, Force-Man, Bombor, Electroso and Thornadillo (I know, right). I'd give someone's right leg to be able to find the rest of the pages to this. It musta been trippy. Social/Sharing |

Always a thrill to find an original art piece (especially a cover) of some forgotten gem. Heh heh heh.

Wow, that art board didn't age well. Whoever drew this needs to upgrade to better paper! ; )

I don't want to give anyone "Twilight Zone"-style goosebumps, but the UPC code at the bottom left of this 12-cent cover clearly indicates that there was some time-traveling going on not only within the story told in the comic, but in the real world of comic publishing -- those codes didn't appear en masse until many years and many price increases later!

It certainly is true that I've had a hard time authenticating the piece ;)

Wait -- "It Begins Here!"? What begins here? Do you think there are more? I sure hope so.
