Description

This page from BOY COMICS by Norman Maurer was the first Maurer page from this series that Heritage Comics ever offered. Sadly it comes from an unidentified issue (if anyone knows the issue please drop me a line), but it's oversized and rather beautiful, with an image area of 12" x 18". Maurer had a lifelong association with The Three Stooges (even marrying the daughter of Moe Howard), and produced the first 3-D comic book THREE-DIMENSION COMICS (featuring Mighty Mouse) with his brother Leonard Maurer and the legendary Joe Kubert. He became the manager of The Three Stooges after Columbia terminated their employment in 1957 and has credits in most of their later feature films. Maurer produced THE THREE STOOGES SCRAPBOOK (1960), and wrote the screen stories and produced THE THREE STOOGES MEET HERCULES (1962), THE THREE STOOGES IN ORBIT (1962), THE THREE STOOGES GO AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAZE (1963) and THE OUTLAWS IS COMING (1965), the last two of which he also directed. While his name is always thought of with the Stooges, Norman was quite an accomplished comic book artist and writer as well.
