When it was announced that the BBC was looking for a new actor to play the Doctor friend, and most awesome artist Paul Hanley got all excited and started a limited run commissions project, I'll Draw Anyone As The Doctor and even though I didn't have the money I had to ask ...

Years ago I was trying to tell a friend that Robert Carlye was up for the roll of the Doctor. But I messed up. Saying something, like, "You know, that guy from Cracker and the James Bond movie." He went "Robbie Coltrane?" and my head went BOOM! The idea of Robbie as the Doctor's been with me since (below is a cheap Photoshopped version said friend did after we'd talked). So I had to ask Paul to do Robbie as the Doctor and we ended up talking and I said how cool would it be to have Terrence Stamp as the Master. Off went Paul and back came this colourful piece of awesome.

Love the double smirk in the lower panel. I'd pay a bagillion dollars to see these two bicker their way through an episode. The cane really helps the character, great idea to add that (Paul's a genius in case folks didn't know), to really bring out that sense of the Hartnell arrogance that's been throughout the character over the years. I'm far too in love with the Nehru jacket and Stamp looks great in it.
