Description

As a kid this JSA cover was a favorite of mine. Totally Outstanding artwork by the Earth II Main Man, Jerry Ordway. Excellent choice by Jerry using Dr Fate's full classic "real" helmet rather than that bloody awful half-helmet the character was depicted in for most of the Squadron series.

Cover blurb states "They're Back! the Justice Society!"... Hyperbole much :) It had only been 60 days since their last appearance in the title as they were featured in issues 27 and 28.

The Craftint gives it an old time look that is perfect for the era the book took place in. However, I've read that the chemicals used in the craft-tint process are high in mercury and that some artists who used it over an extended period of time were poisoned to varying degrees! If true that is some serious stuff.

Folks, if you have any Buckler/Ordway All-Star Squad art from the preview in JLA 193 or issue #4, I beg you please don't sell yourself short, I will pay more than anyone on CAF for those interiors.

I was never a big DC fan. I mean every comic fan likes Superman and Batman and sure they have some great characters but I always loved their golden age heroes and their reverence for them. I LOVED the idea of the All Star Squadron and this is a STELLAR cover. Bravo.

It's always a treat to view an Ordway cover on CAF and an even bigger treat to own one (I actually own three!). But this one is vintage Ordway in his classic best! I love it!
