Veronica Castro by Tavera

Here's an odd one. Years ago, I used to watch Univision a lot, enjoying the over-the-top nature of the shows. One show was hosted by singer/actress Veronica Castro and I became a fan (particularly once I discovered her early 1970s work).

Anyway, this painting for an unknown Mexican magazine came up for sale, but at a bit too much. Waiting and waiting, the seller eventually dropped the price by about a third and I snapped it up.

The image from the back has what I assume is the blurb used in the magazine.

Bing translates:

Near as I can tell, ANDA (the Mexican actors union) objected somehow, but Castro appeared in the debut of the play "Tru - Tru Entre Tres", which she starred in opposite Rogelio Guerra. And I guess they get emotional or something.

The play was apparently a bomb.
