DescriptionThis is the one that pushed me over the edge for good...I was browsing through the web, looking for nice BWS images when this one stopped me in my tracks. I don't know, it's difficult to say, it is oh so very simple but so serene. Every line falls right into place, like the graphic equivalent of a haiku... I was so dumbstruck it took me a very long moment to realize it was for sale... So, without further pondering, I jumped,... and really became a collector of original art at that point!... Otherwise, I must admit I have no detail on this piece. I have never seen it published, but, then again... If someone has more information on the whys and whens, drop me a line! Social/Sharing |

Sweet art - looks like a finished study for a larger piece - don't have my opus near me now but perhaps if you flip through you'll find where it ended up?

I looked through the 2 Opus volumes and didn't find anything yet. With that in mind, I'll get into a more detailed search through other BWS works... 2 details might be of help: - The blue pencil scribbled note on top right of the page reading, if I'm correct, "AV 22 02" (Now if that rings a bell?...). - The woman is not drawn with a "large" mouth that appears to be one of the characteristics of Barry's figures from Storyteller on.

Sheer lyrical poetry - not a line out of place. Perfect. Wow.

While I have no certainty at all, this pose and portrait remind me of a 1997 piece called "Picnic at the Peacock" that appears in Opus One. It could have been a preliminary study for that one, even though I feel the style of my piece is less angular (and more to my liking!). Anyway, until I get more clues, it´s only guesswork on my side... But it´s all been so long now... How I wish Barry could publish some new art!...

So nice! Great lines in this and such a graceful pose. I just love BWS's elegant style, with his distinctive hair, feet, drapery, etc.

Thanks Davide! BWS absorbed all of the Pre-Raphaelite art movement and made it his own! This one is still a major cornerstone of my collection...
