DescriptionC. Scott Morse - Plastic Man, JLA-Z #3 Page 10 Pin Up, Unpublished, 2003, Pen and Ink / Pencil, 11 1/2 x 17 Inches, Signed. Copyright C. Scott Morse.First unpublished C. Scott Morse Plastic Man - rejected by DC Comics for publication in JLA-Z #3. Inscribed in light pencil "For Chris - All the Best! CSM 2004". California native Scott Morse is an Animator, Filmmaker, and Comic Book Writer/Artist who likes to confuse the comics world by sometimes adding a "C" at the beginning of his name. Morse was trained at the California Institute of the Arts (commonly known as CalArts), where he majored in Character Animation. In his Sophomore year, he was hired out to work at Chuck Jones' Film Productions. Scott Morse made his comics debut with Soulwind, a five-part epic that began at Image Comics and earned him several Eisner and Ignatz Award Nominations. He followed it up with two memorable Graphic Novels - Littlegreyman and Visitations (the latter earning him even more Eisner nominations). Later, he published Phenomerama at Caliber Comics. Through his own Crazyfish/MJ-12 comic imprint, he published Loud Cannoli and the independent comic anthology Substance Affect, as well as the Graphic Novel Smack Dab. His client list includes Marvel Comics (Elektra: Glimpse & Echo), DC Comics (Batman: Room Full Of Strangers and Plastic Man), Dark Horse Comics (Ancient Joe), Top Shelf Publishing (Barefoot Serpent), AdHouse Books (Pink Sketchbook Vol. 1: Grrr!, Southpaw, and The Ancient Book Of Myth And War), Topps Publishing (Art Of Star Wars), IDW Publishing (Little Book Of Horror: Frankenstein), Todd McFarlane Enterprises (Casefiles: Sam & Twitch and Scrap Mettle: Fast Art By Scott Morse), Scholastic Books (Magic Pickle, Magic Pickle & The Planet Of The Grapes, and Magic Pickle Vs. The Egg Poacher), and Oni Press (Ghost Dog Movie Adaptation, Volcanic Revolver, Magic Pickle, Visitations, The Complete Soulwind, and Spaghetti Western). In the field of animation, he has worked as a Character Designer, Storyboard Artist, and Art Director for companies such as Walt Disney, Universal Studios, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon. Most recently, he has taken a job at Pixar Animation working on an as yet undisclosed project. In 2006, Scott Morse launched a new self-publishing venture entitled Red Window. His first publication to see print is Noble Boy, a touching and light-hearted eulogy to Morse's mentor, animation pioneer Maurice Noble. During his 60 years in the animation industry, Noble was an instrumental figure in Disney Animation, along with the famous Director Chuck Jones. Nominated several times for Oscars, he won in 1965 as Co-Director of the Animated Short Film "The Dot and The Line". Although he died in 2001 at the age of 90, Noble's lasting effect can be seen in a group of his students who have nicknamed themselves "The Noble Boys and Girls". As a part of this close-knit club, Morse remembers Noble fondly. "Maurice left the kind of mark that all artists yearn to leave," Morse said. "[Noble's] work speaks to everyone, stops any passerby dead in their tracks, and entrances them." Morse has garnered multiple Eisner and Ignatz Award Nominations since his 1997 comics debut, and has recently been awarded the 2003 Attilio Micheluzzi Gran Premio in Naples, Italy. Scott Morse lives in Burbank, CA, with a dog named Petey and a cat named Boo. He has since added a beautiful wife and an ever-lovin' little one. Social/Sharing |
