Description

Rare original Jimmy Swinnerton "Canyon Kiddies" page from a 1936 issue of Good Housekeeping magazine. Swinnerton and George Herriman both moved to the Southwest and were greatly influeced by the natural beauty of the land. Besides being and early comic strip pioneer, Swinnerton painted these delightful comic/story pages about the antics of Native American children and was among the first to portray Native Americans in a positive light. He also painted a large body of fine art Western landscapes.

Great to see that this artwork survived, I just read an article in a Western in Comics book, that guy was an incredible talent
