Wally Wood: Cannon Comic Strip #C-21 (Wood and Richter, 1972). Comic book hall-of-famer Wally Wood was among the most versatile and talented of all comic book and strip artists. From 1970-74 Wood wrote and drew Cannon, an adventure comic strip for a newspaper distributed exclusively to military bases. Cannon is all male fantasy, with promiscuous, beautiful women, hard-drinking men, fast cars, big guns, and an unshakable belief in the problem-solving power of the fistfight. Foxy foreign agents Madam Toy and Sue Smith display their hidden charms in order to steal top secret information. Meanwhile, Cannon, Hurley Simms, and Weasel (who is a dead-ringer for T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agent Weed) add their own brand of Cold War intrigue. The ink and shading film art is on two pieces of Bristol. The top half of this episode has an image area of approximately 17" x 12.5", while the bottom half measures 17" x 10.25".
