Karate Kid vs. Misty Knight and Colleen Wing by Joltin' Johnny Lucas

I've had John Lucas on my list of artists to commission for quite some time. We had actually chatted about him doing a Karate Kid commission for me before on Twitter, but we never got it properly set up until he offered a deal wherein I bought him an expensive book in exchange for the commission. I was more than happy to do it, and I could not be happier with the result! My first exposure to the Daughters of the Dragon was when they used to guest star in X-Men, back when Misty Knight was Jean Grey's roommate and Colleen Wing dated Scott Summers (who else remembers that?). Later I read more older stories about them in Iron Fist, Heroes For Hire and The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu. Misty and Colleen are fantastic characters who can kick major butt, and I'm happy that they still appear pretty frequently today. John went out of his way with this commission and I can't describe how much I love it. Karate Kid's foot in motion, the yin and yang of the dragons in the background, and the Daughters' awesome belt buckles are just a few of the reasons this piece is so awesome. Huge thanks to John for doing this swap with me!

How would this fight go? Well, I love Misty and Colleen but they are gonna get whupped. Misty's bionic arm and Colleen's abilities with a sword will give Val Armorr a little bit of trouble, but he's dealt with worse. Now if they also had Iron Fist and Luke Cage with them? Who knows?

I vaguely remember John's work on Starman. I may have to pull those out for a second look. This is a great piece Travis,I especially like the effect on Val's kick. As long as Misty doesn't get that bionic arm on Val,he'll take this one!

One of John's best commissions to date and one of the most awe-inspiring pieces in your esteemed collection. I love the blurred fury of KK's right foot and the elevtrically-charged Asian thematics on display here. A truly keystone piece in your gallery, Travis. Wow!
